Kalamazoo Valley community College

KVCC has stepped up in meaningful ways to support our unhoused neighbors. Through the college’s Honors Program, students and faculty have organized an annual warm clothing drive since 2023—initially started by our own Heather Weinert— that has since collected hundreds of coats, socks, blankets, and other essential items to help keep unsheltered neighbors warm during cold months—a compassionate effort that made a real difference when temperatures dropped. This partnership reflects KVCC’s broader commitment to community service and compassion, empowering students to make a positive impact while helping address urgent needs in Kalamazoo.
